So lets get started.
Myth #1: I will control your mind.
Fact: No one can control your mind, unless you let them. I will give you suggestions that we've agreed upon, based on our Pre-talk. At no point during your session will you lose control of your mind. If you hear a suggestion that you don’t like, your subconscious mind will block it. All the suggestions I give in a session are agreed upon and accepted by you. These suggestions are to achieve your desired outcome. And since they come from you, it will stick and hold tight.
Myth #2: You will be made to act out embarrassing tasks, such as cluck like a chicken, or walk like a duck.
Fact: This is based on stage hypnotism, such as a fair act, or Hollywood movies. The truth is, these people agree to act on stage, and they allow themselves to participate in the fun suggestions knowing what they are getting into. Hypnotherapy is a different process of self-improvement, not entertainment.
Myth #3: Hypnosis comes from “Voodoo” or is “Supernatural” or "The Devils work".
Fact: Hypnosis is a naturally focused state, that has been studied and researched heavily. Hypnotherapy is based on many years of clinical research based on famous hypnotists such as Dr. Milton Erikson and Dave Elman.
Myth #4: When you are Hypnotized, you could get stuck in hypnosis, or hypnosis is dangerous.
Fact: Hypnosis is very safe. If at any time there is an emergency, a person would be able to open their eyes and come out of hypnosis. It is not like the movie Office Space where you can get trapped in a state you do not approve of. If there was a disconnect during our online session, once again you would be alerted by the sound of silence and simply open your eyes.
Myth #5: You have never experienced Hypnosis.
Fact: You naturally slide into hypnosis at least two times everyday. Just before falling asleep at night, and when waking up every morning. You also enter hypnosis potentially while at the movies, watching TV, driving on the highway, or playing video games.
Myth #6:
Hypnosis can be bad for your health.
Fact: Hypnosis is actually a naturally occurring state, so if you want to feel in balance with yourself and the world around you, it is the best state to be in. It is a healing state tied to the benefits of relaxation and meditation.
Myth #7: You will confess your deepest secrets in hypnosis.
Fact: All my hypnotherapy sessions are kept private and cannot be used for court testimony. It is not an alternative to lie detector tests. Hypnosis cannot force anyone to reveal or confess to anything.
Myth #8: When Hypnotized, you will lose all sense of your surroundings, and will have no memory of the session.
Fact: Hypnosis is actually a focused state. It is not a sleeping state. You will be aware of everything. Some even say they can hear and sense things even better while in that focused state. Time distortion can occur, where an hour feels like 5 mins. It's very similar to dreaming in a way.
Myth #9:
Hypnosis will only work on certain people.
Fact: For hypnosis and change to take hold it actually comes down to the person’s motivations and willingness. They need to realize "Something needs to change, that thing is me, and that time is now!"
Myth #10: Only weak minded people can be hypnotized or "My mind is to focused and strong"
Fact: This is an old belief that has been dis-proven. Everyone is capable and its quite opposite in reality. The stronger and more focused your mind, the easier this will be.
